Nuclear share of electricity, by country
Nuclear plants generated 8.9% of the world's electricity in 2025, down from a peak of 17.4% in 1996. 3 countries get half or more of theirs from it (France, Slovakia, Ukraine); 16 get a fifth or more.
Over the ten years to each country's latest figure, the share has fallen by five points or more in France, Hungary, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, Armenia, United Kingdom, Taiwan. It has risen by five points or more in Slovakia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Finland, Bulgaria, Pakistan, Japan. Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lithuania generated no nuclear electricity in their latest year but had before.

The share is nuclear generation divided by all electricity generated in the country that year, not capacity. A country with few reactors but a small grid can show a high share, and one with many reactors but a large grid a low one. The latest year is 2022, 2024 or 2025 depending on the country, because the sources publish at different times. "Change in 10 years" compares the latest year with the year ten earlier and is blank where there is no figure for it. Countries that have never generated nuclear electricity are not listed. For the reactors behind these shares, see the reactor list and each country's page.
