Springfields conversion line

Springfields conversion line is a conversion facility operated by Westinghouse Electric Company in United Kingdom. Its capacity is not publicly disclosed.

The United Kingdom converted uranium at Springfields until 2014, when Cameco ended the toll conversion agreement that kept the line running and production stopped that August. It is recorded here because its absence is the point: it left the West with three converters instead of four, and the world with five, which is why conversion prices moved as violently as they did afterwards. Westinghouse still fabricates fuel on the site, and has UK government funding to prepare new conversion capacity from 2028.
