A Franco-German design with four redundant safety trains, a double-walled containment and a core catcher beneath the vessel. Its build record is the cautionary tale of the Western industry: Olkiluoto 3 in Finland finished thirteen years late, Flamanville 3 in France twelve. Taishan 1 and 2 in China, started later, finished first. Hinkley Point C is under construction in the United Kingdom.
