Akula class

submarine · SSN Russia Operating

Akula class is a nuclear-powered submarine operated by Russian Navy, powered by OK-650B (VM-5) of about 190 MWt. Operating.

One boat of this class, renamed Chakra, is leased to India's navy, which is how a state without a nuclear-powered submarine of its own design gained operational experience of one: India crews and operates it but does not own it, and cannot arm it with nuclear weapons under the lease terms.
