The last French series before the EPR, and the first designed by Framatome without a Westinghouse licence. Four units at Chooz B and Civaux, with new steam generators, a fully computerised control room and the highest output of any French reactor. Civaux 1 cracked a residual heat removal line in 1998, five months after start-up, and the whole series was modified before the design settled.
